DUTIES:
As an Engineering Technician the incumbent is engaged in the original installation, establishment, relocation or modernization of complex systems or operational interrelated systems or subsystems included in the Facilities and Equipment (F&E) program. Such preparation may include performing physical work activities such as but not limited to cable trenching, duct bank installation cable pulling, including power and control, foundation installation with associated concrete work, engineering generator installation and testing, and electrical power installation and modification. Investigate space availability for the installation of new equipment and coordinate local environmental and operational requirements to ensure that requirements are consistent with F&E project assignments.
The selectee will develop installation plans for systems and equipment. Modifiy standard plans and specifications to meet local unique requirements. Coordinate with user agencies, contractors, power companies and other related organizations to arrange for the provision of service and system interconnections. Responsibility at the work site for project completion within proposed time-frame and provide oversight to the work crew or contractor performing the project's construction activity. Perform multiple, varying and complex assignments associated with the National Airspace System (NAS).
NOTE: Position requires incumbant to climb a 100 foot tower.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
To qualify for this position you must demonstrate in your application that you possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to FV-G/GS-11 in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. Work experience may include but not be limited to:
-Dafting, surveying construction estimating, physical science, mathematics, aerospace, architecture, chemicals, electrical or mechanical systems, mining, petroleum, or nuclear systems. Field construction, development of installation plans for systems and equipment, review of engineering plans and oversight of construction activity.
-Experience in a trade or craft may be credited as specialized experience when the work provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and precedents. Examples are trade positions with substantial developmental, test, or design responsibilities such as:-Planner and estimator who analyzed designs for production purposes. -Instrument maker or model maker who performed design or development work on devices fabricated.
Examples of Specialized Experience also include:
-Knowledge of the technology and system interrelationships of the NAS.
-Experience planning and conducting operational and diagnostic tests, and confirming the reliability and validity of diagnostics on system hardware.
-Experience reading drawings and providing red-lines at project end.
-Experience troubleshooting electrical equipment.
